IN SHORT

Designing for positive user experiences requires an understanding at two levels: (1) How is the user experience related to product, system and service properties? (2) How do people integrate the use of interactive products, services and systems into their everyday life?

In this course, I went into depth with respect to the theory and contextualize the theory through a challenge-based approach.

In this elective we took a holistic/integrative approach towards understanding how particular user experiences come about, we addressed theoretical views on the user experience, we practiced methods for understanding the user experience, and we looked at how the insights can be translated into design.

UX Portfolio
I created an individual portfolio addressing knowledge, homologation of different entrance level knowledge, and deeper understanding. I studied literature and reflected on interesting, relevant examples of my own previous design work.

UX Manifesto
We created a manifesto, stimulating us to reflect on the activities and results of this course. The ID UX Manifesto was be a public declaration of principles, intentions, aims, tools, and insights on User Experience, especially that of Eindhoven Industrial Design.

Design Case by Essense
Clients from three different companies (Philips, Essense, Mirabeau) introduced their companies, their work, and their perspective on UX. As a team, we worked on the challenge for Essense; improving the customer experience at an airport while going through customs. In this part we learned to apply our knowledge and reflect on different ways of achieving relevant UX goals. This includes (design) tools and evaluation methods.
